Yes, I did finish FF9, but the writers of that game knew better and wrote an entertaining story by not having the likable main character die in place of a purposefully and objectively unlikable character capable of doing so many wrong and evil things. It wouldn't have surprised me if he did sacrifice himself to save Kuja, he just didn't have the means to. Zidane throws himself into a death pit to try and save Kuja after defeating him, it's just that Kuja had reached the end of his lifespan and was going to die regardless. did you finish ff9? That's near enough what happens. Originally posted by rakaz1600: or if in FF9 at the end, Kuja is there on stage instead of Zidane, because Zidane sacrificed himself to save Kuja "Just because he deserves a second chance". I was so ready to 100% the game, but after that trash ending, I am uninstalling the game. I have the same feeling I felt after Game of Thrones ended, I got "Game of Thrones'd" I am calling it. Like imagine if in FF7 Cloud just gave up his life to save Rufus Shinra or if in FF9 at the end, Kuja is there on stage instead of Zidane, because Zidane sacrificed himself to save Kuja "Just because he deserves a second chance". I will praise it for trying to go against tropes and do something different, but different only works if it's good, otherwise the tropes are tropes for a reason, at worse tropes are often mediocre, but if done right, they can be exceptional. But wow, does the ending not feel earned here, it's really upsetting because I started out loving the characters in Chained Echoes too. ![]() I am all for sad endings, Omori and Hollow Knight are some of my favorite games of all time. I am not sure if I can use profanity here, but after beating the game I am just spewing salt from all orifices of my body.
